Accessibility
Streaming can be made more welcoming with a few practical choices.
Captions
- Use automatic captions where available.
- Consider recording the stream and adding improved captions later.
- Speak clearly and avoid talking over collaborators.
Visual clarity
- Use large fonts when screen-sharing code or slides.
- Prefer high-contrast themes.
- Avoid relying on colour alone to communicate meaning.
- Describe what you are doing when demonstrating visual interfaces.
Chat and interaction
- Read out or summarise audience questions before answering.
- Give people multiple ways to participate, for example chat, Q&A documents or follow-up issues.
- Make expectations for behaviour clear.
Recordings and notes
- Where possible, share links, commands, notes or transcripts after the stream.
- Consider whether a written summary would help people who could not attend live.
